Our goals and strategies have been developed in consultation with many others who are on our Board of Advisors, including:

  • Cindy Cohn, Legal Director, Electronic Frontier Foundation. Background: First Amendment Law, non-profit management. (Verified Voting Foundation Board Director)
  • Lillie Coney, Coordinator, National Committee for Voting Integrity and Senior Policy Analyst, Electronic Privacy Information Center
  • Joseph Lorenzo Hall, ACCURATE Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of California at Berkeley, School of Information, Princeton University Center for Information Technology Policy
  • Jeremy Epstein, Research Computer Scientist, Cyber Defense Agency LLC. Background: Prominent computer security researcher, experienced in how commercial technology is built, advisor to Virginia legislature on electronic voting, expert reviewer of Brennan Center report.
  • Candice Hoke, founding Director of the Center for Election Integrity at Cleveland State University, Associate Professor of Law (Election, Regulatory, and Employment Law). Background: a research Team Leader for CA Secretary of State's landmark scientific study of voting systems (2007); member, American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Election Law Advisory Commission (2007- ); proposed and led the first post-election audit in Ohio (Cuyahoga, November 2006), testified to Congress on the critical need for independent election auditing to rebuild public trust in the election system.
  • Doug Jones, Computer Science Professor, University of Iowa. Background: Iowa Election Equipment Examiner for 10 years, including chairmanship
  • Douglas A. Kellner, Co-Chair, Board of Elections of New York City
  • Justin Moore, Platforms Engineer, Google. Background: Ph.D. in Computer Science from Duke University, expert witness on E-voting to two state legislatures, member of the National Committee on Voting Integrity
  • Peter Neumann, Principal Scientist, SRI International's Computer Science Laboratory. Background: Prominent computer security researcher, experienced in technology and policy, expert in risks of computers, such as computer voting
  • Aviel D. Rubin, Associate Professor of Computer Science Johns Hopkins University. Background: Computer security expert, co-author of Johns Hopkins / Rice report and "A Security Analysis of the Secure Electronic Registration & Voting Experiment (SERVE)."
  • Bruce Schneier, Chief Security Technology Officer, BT. Bruce Schneier is an internationally renowned security technologist, referred to by The Economist as a "security guru." He is the author of eight books -- including the best sellers Beyond Fear, Secrets and Lies, and Applied Cryptography -- as well as hundreds of articles and essays in national and international publications, and many more academic papers. His influential newsletter "Crypto-Gram," and his blog "Schneier on Security," are read by over 250,000 people. He has testified before Congress, is a frequent guest on television and radio, and is regularly quoted in the press.
  • Barbara Simons, Computer Scientist, Former President, Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Background: Member, Board of Advisors of the Election Assistance Commission; Retired IBM researcher, now devoted to technology policy issues. Has worked on electronic voting for several years. Co-author of "A Security Analysis of the Secure Electronic Registration & Voting Experiment (SERVE)" and the ACM report "Statewide Databases of Registered Voters." (Verified Voting Foundation Board Director)
  • Michael Ubell, Software Architect, Berkeley Database Group, Oracle. Formerly Executive Architect and/or Chief Scientist at several database companies including Informix, Illustra and Teradata.
  • Nancy Wallace, Maryland Voting Activist affiliated with Campaign for Verifiable Voting in Maryland. Background: Experienced lobbyist and volunteer organizer.
